Junior / Graduate Front-End Engineer (React / TypeScript)
Location: Manchester (hybrid)
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000
Reports to: Technical Director
About 30Seconds Group
We operate the UK's leading indoor digital communication network: smart displays in lift lobbies, connected to our cloud platform, letting property managers run tenant communication across every site from one dashboard. Started in Manchester, we now cover 700+ sites in 20 cities, reaching 44,000+ households, and we're growing fast.
The role
This is a chance to start your front-end career on a product that's actively used and actively growing. You'll work on our cloud-based notice management platform, the tool property managers rely on every day. Use cases include pushing a fire safety notice to a building and residents see it within seconds, setting a maintenance notice and have it displayed on the pre-defined schedule. You'll work closely with our Technical Director, who'll guide your work and review your code, and you'll see the features you build ship to real buildings, not sit in a backlog. Because the team is small and growing, you'll get real ownership early, with more senior engineers to learn from as we expand.
We're looking for someone early in their career who is genuinely keen to get good at this. You don't need years of experience; you need solid fundamentals, curiosity, and the drive to improve.
What you'll do
Build and improve features in our React/TypeScript codebase, with guidance and code review from the Technical Director
Turn designs and requirements into clean, working interfaces for things like content scheduling, media upload, and resident engagement (QR feedback, polls, surveys)
Learn our conventions and tooling, and grow into owning larger pieces of work over time
Fix bugs, write tests, and help keep the product reliable
Ask questions, share ideas, and get involved in how we build things
What we're looking for
A working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with some exposure to React and ideally TypeScript (through a degree, bootcamp, internship, or personal projects)
Evidence that you build things: side projects, coursework, open-source contributions, anything that shows you write code for fun or practice
Care about how interfaces look and feel, and a willingness to sweat the details
A genuine appetite to learn, take feedback, and improve quickly
Resourceful and happy to figure things out, rather than waiting to be told the answer
Clear communication and comfort working in a small, collaborative team
What we offer
£25,000 to £30,000 salary, hybrid working from our Manchester office
28 days paid holiday a year (including bank holidays), pension
Hands-on guidance and code review from the Technical Director, with more senior engineers to learn from as the team grows
Room to take on more as you develop, in a team small enough that your work is visible
Software you can walk past and see running in buildings across the UK
How to apply
Send a CV and a short note on something you've built that you're proud of (a project, a feature, anything) to andrew@30secondsgroup.com, subject line "Junior Front-End Engineer".
